A Philosophy of Ministry Ministers Leadership Training
Terminal Objective:
The objective of this training is to empower and transform the student by effectively teaching and communicating the importance of having a proper philosophy of ministry, an understanding of spiritual authority, the importance of spiritual transference and having a proper understanding of, and attitude toward servanthood.
At the conclusion of this training the student will be able to:
1. Recognize the importance of a proper philosophy of ministry.
2. Describe the importance of understanding spiritual authority.
3. Describe the method and importance of spiritual transference.
4. Communicate a proper biblical understanding of servanthood.
5. Describe a proper attitude toward servanthood.
If you are going to be effective in ministry it is imperative that you have a clear biblical understanding of what ministry really is.
What is your Philosophy of Ministry? What is your analysis of the principles and underlying conduct that a leader should follow; what is your though or knowledge of the nature of ministry?
Have you as a leader (minister) taken the time to take a panoramic view (An unlimited view in all directions) of what leadership and ministry is all about?
Have you taken a continuous look into the ever-changing demands and requirements of leadership/ministry?
What is your Philosophy of Ministry?
1. Ministry is Commitment
2. Ministry is Commitment beyond your convenience
3. Ministry is faithfulness
4. Ministry is ministering beyond your circumstances John 11: 8 – 16
v If you are not willing to give yourself for the purpose of the Kingdom, you don’t qualify for leadership in the Kingdom.
1) The importance of a proper philosophy of ministry
As leaders and ministers in the Kingdom of God, you must establish priorities. The problem that we have in the church is that the leaders’ number one priority has been and continues to be self. When you are your number one priority, you are operating under a spirit of selfishness.
You are self-centered and not other centered! Kingdom ministry is other-centered not self-centered!
In order to have a mature church, you must have a unified body of leaders who’ve matured to the point of understanding that in order to grow up into Christ they must put aside their personal agendas and help fulfill the dreams and vision of another.
1 Cor. 3: 1 HOWEVER, BRETHREN, I could not talk to you as to spiritual [men], but as to nonspiritual [men of the flesh, in whom the carnal nature predominates], as to mere infants [in the new life] in Christ [unable to talk yet!] 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not yet strong enough [to be ready for it]; but even yet you are not strong enough [to be ready for it], 3 For you are still [unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men? 4 For when one says, I belong to Paul, and another, I belong to Apollos, are you not [proving yourselves] ordinary (unchanged) men?
1 Cor. 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
These scriptures speak toward spiritual maturity;
A spiritually immature believer cannot and will not be entrusted with the privileges and responsibilities of Kingdom Authority.
Abiding in God’s Presence Manifests His Power and Glory
What do you think when you hear someone talk about the Presence of God?
Being in God’s Presence and abiding in God’s presence is not the same.
What does it mean to abide in God’s Presence; and secondly; are you willing to do what’s necessary in order to experience the manifested Presence of God?
Living in the presence of God is the first step in the progression that’s required if you are going to experience His manifested Power and Glory.
Psalm 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. (Courts > enclosure; settled abode)
1) Outer Court -The Presence of God – God’s Face
2) Inner Court -The Power of God – The Authority of God
3) Holy of Holies – the Glory of God – The Weight of God
1. The Presence of God is one of the single most important attributes in a believer’s life.
2. A truly born again believer cannot live without the Presence of God. It’s important to take notice here that I said; a truly born again believer cannot live without the Presence.
3. You can exist without God’s Presence
(Message) Acts 17: 28 We live and move in him, can’t get away from him! One of your poets said it well: We’re the God-created.’29 Well, if we are the God-created, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to think we could hire a sculptor to chisel a god out of stone for us, does it?
(Amplified) Psalm 140: 13 Surely the [uncompromisingly] righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell (remain) in Your presence (before Your very face).
The Presence of the Lord is very important but few believers really know what the Presence of God is. David understood the importance of God’s Presence to the degree that he cried out to God and begged Him not to remove His Presence.
Psalm 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy holy spirit from me.
(Message) Psalm 51: 11 Don’t throw me out with the trash, or fail to breathe holiness in me.
During these teachings, we will use several definitions to define the Presence of God.
Abiding in the Presence of God is:
1. Living in the consciousness (awareness) of God’s Presence, and in conscious communion with Him.
2. Constant, conscious companionship of God.
3. Living in the Presence of God is to walk with God. When you walk with God you are conscious of His Presence and the thought of God is constantly before you.
4. The Presence of God is the face of God.
5. The immediate vicinity of God
(Amplified)Genesis 5: 22 Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God after the birth of Methuselah 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were 365 years. 24 And Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God; and he was not, for God took him [home with Him].
God is more concerned that you walk with Him than He is that you work for Him.
A heathen can work in and be a member of a church; a heathen, however, can not dwell in the Presence of God.
Psalm 10: 16; The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land
Psalm 68:2; As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
Ecclesiastes 8: 12 Though a sinner do evil a hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: 13 But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.
The Presence of God is not a physical position, it’s a spiritual habitation
Spiritual Translation through Authentic Intimacy
Enoch was so in tuned with God spiritually that he transcended the limitations of this dimension, tapped into the true essence of God’s Presence and refused to come down.
(Amplified)Proverbs 20: 27, The spirit of man [that factor in human personality which proceeds immediately from God] is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts.
- Physical actions aren’t a true indicator of what’s going on in a person spiritually.
(Message) Matthew 15: 8 These people make a big show of saying the right thing, but their heart isn’t in it. 9 They act like they’re worshiping me, but they don’t mean it. They just use me as a cover for teaching whatever suits their fancy.”
- Being unclean before God has more to do with your spiritual position not your physical.
Broken Before God
Brokenness is a choice, God does not break us. To do so would be a violation of His Word as recorded in Genesis1:26 And God said, Let us make humanity in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. If God chooses to break us in an effort to get us to do what He wants us to do, He would be in violation of His Word because He would be taking away the authority that he gave humanity in Genesis 1:26. If He does that, it would make Him a lier. And God is not a man that He should lie.
Brokenness occurs when we make a decision to surrender and submit to the governmental authority and rule of the Kingdom of God, which is submitting to God. The power of God in our life will become a reality when we choose brokenness by becoming obedient to the agenda of God and His Kingdom.
Kingdom Priorities
There are certain priorities that cannot be overlooked in the Kingdom of God; in fact, God has prioritized key elements as essential in His Kingdom. I will share with you what I believe are some of the most important priorities in the believers walk.
1) An undying love for God – The true believer must have an undying love for God!
When presented with the question of which is the greatest commandment Jesus’ response was that you must love God with your entire being. Matthew 22: 36 – Luke 10: 25-27
•Heart > life, passion, desires, appetites, affections, purposes, will
•Soul > The breath of life
•Mind > Understanding, way of thinking
•Strength > Force, ability, might
The very thought of being in the kingdom without loving the King is absolutely ridiculous.
Our love for God is not acted out or demonstrated on the surface, our love for God our commitment to Jesus is a condition of the heart. Isaiah 29:13 – Matthew 15: 7-8 – Matthew 6:21
•Treasure > Valuables, Precious things
a) Your love for Jesus and level of commitment will always be tested. John 21: 16 – Revelations 2: 4
1. Has your love for Jesus been replaced by your love for self and the things of the world?
2. Who do you value more; God or you?
Have love for each other
1.Your love for Jesus must extend too and be directed toward others.
Ephesians 5: 1 – Hebrews 13:1 – 1John 4:7-8 (born of God =begotten of God)
Our love for each other is a by-product of our love for God. It’s impossible to truly love Jesus while harboring hatred in your heart for others.
•If you have hate in your heart for others; you haven’t truly surrendered or submitted yourself to God.
(AMP) John 13:34: I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another. 35 By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves].
2) Have Faith in God – Mark 11:22 / Hebrews 11:6
Just how important is faith from God’s perspective? How much value does God put on faith; and is it the amount of faith or the quality of faith that produces the desired thing? When we think of faith and the many definitions used to describe it, we can conclude that the body of Christ may not clearly understand or know what faith is.
•One very basic truth concerning kingdom faith is that it’s putting into action what you believe based upon God’s Word.
•Faith begins where the Word (will) of God is Known
Faith instructions are given throughout the bible; the benefits of the instructions will not be realized however if you refuse to follow the instructions.
•Faith instruction determines faith direction; your faith is only as strong as the object it’s directed toward. When the faith instruction that’s provided in Mark 11: 22 is followed, God becomes the object of your affection, not the thing you desire.
•The object of your affection determines its quality and ability to manifest the desired thing. Jesus said “ All Power in heaven and earth has been given unto me”
“Have faith in God”, God should be the object of your faith.
The God Kind of Faith: What does God have faith in? What is the God Kind of Faith? In order to understand the God kind of faith we need to know what God has faith in. Genesis 1: 1-3, verse 3 let’s us know that God released His Word and His Word produced. Isaiah 42: 21 (AMP) Isaiah 42: 21 It was the Lord’s pleasure for His righteousness’ sake [in accordance with a steadfast and consistent purpose] to magnify instruction and revelation and glorify them. Psalm 138: 2
i) God has faith in His Word (honorable =Him)
ii) He promotes and makes His Word powerful (magnify)
•Faith has to operate within its purpose; when faith operates outside of kingdom purpose, it can’t produce kingdom promises. Matthew 6: 33 ( kingdom=royal power, rule, dominion of God)
When you release faith for things but refuse to release faith to love, you are not releasing faith for kingdom purpose. Exodus 32: 7 – 14
Moses put God in remembrance of kingdom purpose.
God has the Faith to Love first: I John 4: 19 – 21 Kingdom realities don’t make sense. We are commanded to love the good, the bad and the ugly. God’s faith can’t fail because everything that God does is anchored by Love. John 3:16
You must be willing to love first – the God kind of faith is willing to love beyond the hurt, love beyond the disappointment, love beyond the heartache. Romans 5: 8
Love empowers your faith to operate in the dimension of the kingdom and call those things that be not as though they were.

Optimum Healing – Restoration of the Kingdom, God’s Formula for Quality Life
The Optimum Return deals with the total restoration of all that God intended for man in the beginning. It is the complete restoration of the image and likeness of God made possible by the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It’s important to understand that the optimum return blessing does not focus on material procession alone, although material gain is included.
1. The optimum return anointing releases the blessing for quality life.
2. Quality life covers every area of life; it is not restricted to any particular aspect.
Too often we limit God and His desire for us by placing Him in a box which refuses to allow Him to operate outside of our limited dimension and understanding of who He is.
3. God is bigger and greater that our limited understanding.
We are instructed to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. To renew is to restore to its original condition. The optimum return anointing releases the power, (authority) of God to restore to the believer everything that God intended for you to have in the beginning with nothing missing and nothing lacking.
4. Too often healing is dealt with from the physical perspective but fails to address mental, emotional, relational or financial sickness that devastates so many of the people of God.
Jesus’ statement in John 10: 10b gives insight in the totality of His ministry that releases the Spirit of the anointing to restore Quality Life to everyone who’s willing to receive by faith. Notice here that it’s received by faith before it’s manifested in this dimension.
John 10:10b I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Jesus has completely restored everything that the enemy had by virtue of the fall of man. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus; it’s time to walk in the completeness of your manifested total healing.
1. Faith is the catalyst to everything that’s Kingdom related.
2. It’s the Spirit of the seed of the Word that must be received by faith if it’s going to produce in your garden.
(Message) Psalm 103: 3-5 He forgives your sins—every one. heals your diseases—every one. He redeems you from hell—saves your life! He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown. He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal. He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence.
Did you hear what the Word of God said concerning you?
1. He forgives you 4. He crowns you
2. He heals you 5. He wraps you
3. He redeems you 6. He renews you
The Optimum Return of all things; everything loss, everything stolen and everything forfeited; it’s all returned.
Make this confession:
Confession: God has forgiven all my iniquities and healed me from all diseases; He has redeemed my life from destruction and covered me with His loving kindness and tender mercies, He satisfies my mouth continually with good things and my youth is renewed like the eagles. I receive the manifestation of my confession Now! in Jesus Name, Amen! I am totally Healed!
Healing of your Mind
The mind has a spirit that must be healed. The spirit of the mind affects every area of your life, and has a large part to do with the quality of your life.
Your mind has a great deal to do with the physical healing that takes place in your body; In the same way that it has a lot to do with the sickness that entered the body. As you renew your mind by feasting on the Word of God concerning your total healing you’ll create an atmosphere for the Holy Spirit to move in your situation.
Ephesians 4: 23 And be renewed in the spirit of the mind.
In Psalm 42: 11 The psalmist asked a question; Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Confession: The spirit of my mind is renewed and I have the mind of Christ. I refused to be cast down or discouraged because I am more that a conqueror, and healing has taken place in every area of my life. God is the health of my countenance and I live, move and have my being in Him, and I have the manifestation of my confession now in Jesus Name, Amen!
Obedience is key to receiving the promises of God for your life. We are told in scripture that if we are “willing and obedience we shall eat the good of the land.”
A life that’s committed to God in spirit and in truth will experience the manifested realities of the promises of God in every area of life. The test is to endure as Christ endured to the end. There is an end to the seasons of life that appear to be unfulfilling and unrewarding; it’s just a test.
In closing I’ll leave you with these scriptures.
Exodus 23:25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
(Message) Psalm 107:20He spoke the word that healed you, that pulled you back from the brink of death.
I declare you to be totally healed in your body, spirit, mind, and emotions and I command the release of Optimum Healing in every area of your life in accordance with the Word of God in Jesus name, so be it!
May you be Empowered to be all that He has created you to be; fully restored and healed in the total man, body, mind and spirit; nothing missing, nothing broken, and nothing lost.

The Laws of Servanthood
The revealed will of God is the law that governs servanthood. The Law of Servanthood states that: God wills and releases His divine pleasures upon the lives of all who render active service to another out of obedience to God”.
The laws of servanthood identify the will of God that’s released upon the life of all who’ve ransomed their lives for the purpose of God.
Mark 20: 45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (As a price for others)
You may ask; how do I ransom my life for God.
Romans 12: 1 I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Jesus gave His life as a ransom, a price for others by willingly presenting or yielding His entire being to the Father.
1. You ransom your life for God by willingly yielding and presenting your entire being to Him.
2. Your sacrifice is to God for the service of God.
3. Sacrifice to anyone other than God is idol worship.
This course of study introduces you to several laws associated with servanthood. The laws covered during this study are not meant to be all-inclusive, they are however being shared based upon over twenty years of demonstrated faithfulness, and the anointing of God that’s upon my life to serve and release the “Anointing for the Ministry of Helps”.
“How Great do You want to be in”?
Greatness in God’s Kingdom and in the marketplace comes through serving with the right heart, the right spirit, and the right attitude. Your service must be offered with the right attitude.
How many times have you gone to a restaurant fully expecting to have an enjoyable time and meal only to have the experience ruined because of the quality of service you received? Take notice here that there was nothing wrong with the food; it was the quality of the service you received that ruined the evening.
How many times have you ruined a person’s worship experience because of the quality of your service and the attitude with which it was rendered?
Are you anointed to serve?
Do you render active service to another out of obedience to God?
One of the purposes of this book is to introduce you to the laws that will position you for greatness in the Kingdom if applied. The laws of servanthood presented here can and will introduce you to a higher dimension of anointing.
The following statement is an added bonus I decided to give simply because you’ve been so good up to this point.
You can be anointed of God, but not allowed to operate under the anointing until God appoints you. God will not allow you to operate under the anointing until your character and integrity have been proven.
There are for to people many filling positions in the church without the anointing or grace to function in the position. While I understand the need for the ministry of helps, and its importance in the successful administration of what takes place during times of gathering. It is unfortunate however that the spiritual realities of servanthood have yet to be grasped, and understood by the Body of Christ. Because of this lack of understanding, many are out of order and cause more damage within the body than they do good. They are operating without an appreciation for the people of God, and without the knowledge and understanding of the importance of the anointing because of their refusal to ransom their lives for the purpose of the Kingdom.
A person who refuses to ransom his life for the purpose of God does not value the people of God and disqualifies his or her self from receiving the anointed to serve.
You cannot and will not be served by someone who’s anointed to serve if you refused to serve when you were called upon.
The anointing to serve will not manifest its power in your life if you are not serving with the right spirit. “If you are willing and obedient you will eat the good of the land”.
Your refusal to submit to the plan of God for Greatness is what’s blocking the blessing. Are you your blessing blocker?
Let me leave you with this simple question.
How Great do you want to be?
